Cornerstone Christian Church

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I dress?

There is no dress code. Men are not required to wear suits and ties, nor are women expected to wear dresses, although there are some that do.  The majority of the people that attend dress casual, Modesty is the key.

What is the music style like in your worship?

Our celebration services are blended in style, meaning that we do a mix of contemporary and traditional hymns.  Our praise team consists of guitars, keyboard, and drums.

Once I enter the building, where do I go?

When you enter the building you will be in the main foyer.  Everything branches off of that.  The auditorium (sanctuary) is to the left, the classroom wing straight ahead, and the gym/fellowship hall to the right.  There will be greeters there to help guide you or answer any questions once you come into the building.  There is also a welcome table that you can go to in the foyer with any questions you might have.  The offices are located to the immediate right when you come into the foyer.

Do you make visitors stand up to be recognized in your services?

No.  We don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.  We do have a time within the service for greeting each other where you would have the chance to meet a few people.

Do you provide nursery services?

Yes, we have a Nursery with a small restroom and a separate room for nursing mothers.  There is also a Toddler/Preschool room with a restroom designed for small children.

For what ages do you provide classes?

All ages.  We call this time, Cornerstone U for adults and Cornerstone Academy for youth.  Information on classes and locations is always in the bulletin and at the Welcome Center.

Do you have youth group activities?

Yes.  We have dynamic programming on Wednesday nights for youth of all ages.  Kidz Rock is for PreK through 5th grade and Revolution is for Junior and Senior High.  The Jr. and Sr. High also meet on Sunday evenings for group study and activitities.  Other various youth activities are planned throughout the year.  During the summer, the youth are encouraged to attend various weeks of Christian Service Camp to learn more about God and their faith.

Who is able and how often do you practice Communion, also known as the Lord's Supper?

Communion is the focal point of our celebration services.  Communion is a reminder, symbol, and statement of faith in the complete work of Christ on the cross as our payment for sin.  Anyone who is a believer in Jesus Christ as the Son of God is encouraged to participate with us.  In order to prepare our hearts for the Lord's Supper each person should examine his/her life, confess any sin, and recommit to Christ's lordship.  We participate in Communion each Sunday during our celebration service, following the pattern of the early Church, sharing the Lord's Supper as often as we gather together.

Does your church believe in speaking in tongues?
We do not practice speaking in tongues in our celebration services.  In most occasions in Scripture, tongue speaking literally means speaking in another known language, particularly at the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:4-11).  However, the Apostle Paul does mention speaking with the tongues of angels, but in general, it refers to languages of men.  Regardless, Paul set forth strict guidelines in the use of tongue speaking, and to some extent, even discouraged the use of this spiritual gift, whether it be a language of men or of angels.  Read I Corinthians 14 for more detailed information regarding the use of tongues.

What denomination are you affiliated with?

We are an autonomous, self-governing congregation within God’s Church.  We do not belong to any denomination.   We do not have a headquarters nor do we have anyone that governs us outside of our congregation other than God Himself and His Son, Jesus Christ.

How do I become a Christian?

A person must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that He lived and ministered here on earth, died a death for all people’s sin, and was placed in a tomb, only to resurrect three days later.  Once a person believes in Jesus Christ as God’s Son, they must realize that sin has separated them from a personal relationship with God.  Anyone who recognizes sin in their life will repent, meaning they will turn from their sinful lifestyle and begin living for Jesus (Luke 13:3).  The Bible says that we must confess with our hearts and mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord (Romans 10:9,10).  To make Jesus the Lord of our lives, a person is then baptized (immersed) (Acts 2:38).  Romans 6:1-14 is another passage in the Bible that deals with Christ’s life and death and how it relates to our salvation.

How do I become a member of Cornerstone Christian Church?

Anyone who confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord and is then baptized (immersed) for the forgiveness of sins becomes a member of God’s “universal” church.  Therefore, it is just a matter of a public statement expressing one’s desire to make Cornerstone their church “home” to become a member.  Our prayer is that those who want to become a member of Cornerstone are those who desire to be used by God in His church to minister and reach out to others for the sake of Christ.  Each member believes strongly in our mission to transform lives through the love of Jesus Christ.  To prepare our people to become quality disciples, we have a series of classes called Discovery that every member is encouared to complete.
